Sunday is a busy day at our Club.

 

This page is intended as an information page on what is happening when and who does what. Some of these roles (will) have links to more detailed information.

Times are approximate guidelines only.

Sunday Timeline:

800 OOD & Boat boys arrive

815 Junior Coaches arrive, organise and coaches briefing
845 Blue / Red helper parents arrive
900 Blue arrive, briefing then rig
900 Red arrive, rig, briefing
945 Blue Red launch * all club support boats must be available from 930 (any chage must be approved by OOD AND Morning Mentor.

1015 MJ Novice briefing
1020 MJ RO , mark boats etc leave on Lucinda to set up
1030 MJ / Novice launch
1100 MJ / Novice race
1100 Red join with MJ / Novices, share coaches

1100 Yacht mark laid
1115~30 Blue return
1130 MJ / Novice parent brings support boat out to racing area
1130 ~1200 Red return to shore
1200 Yacht Course decision
1245 MJ / Novice return to shore

1245 Yacht start crew go to Lucinda and exchange with morning crew
1245 afternoon briefing
1300 Yacht start (Quartet Bowl starts at 1230)
1300 Afternoon start crew and marks leave for Lucinda
1315 Afternoon crew exchange with yacht crew
1345 Afternoon marks laid

1400 Afternoon first start
1600 Afternoon return, can be as late as 1700
1700 Afternoon debrief as required
1800 Packed up, collapse, recharge for next week. :)


All in a perfect world it is a really busy morning ...  unfortunately not
always to plan. Weather will change things.

 

There are a number of rostered duties and lots of people help

Prior to the day:

OOD calls around to check all are available, eg Coordinators, canteen, Race control or ROs for each team

Tom coordinates "Boat Boys"

Race Control or RO for Midday and Gold Afternoon ... call around their team to check all OK.

Kingsley  coordinates Instructors

Dave coordinates Gold Coaches

Blue & Red teams to check from week to week all ok for following week.

 

On the day:

Officer Of the Day (OOD), 8am~ end (6pm?), checks people are right to go, unlocks the club, manages overall safety and coordinates the day and its volunteers as a whole.

Yacht Coordinator: 1030 ~ end (6pm?), Sets the yacht course, ensures marks are laid, runs the yacht start & finish, manages yacht safety and participation.

Canteen Morning: 815~1230, May ( or OOD) collect food, open canteen, serves during morning / lunch period.

Canteen Afternoon: 1230 ~ end (6pm?), serves during afternooon, clean up and pack away.

 

Boat "Boys": 800~end or as rostered, Launch and prepare all club response boats, fuel as required, prepare marks for training and racing, assist laying of marks, morning and afternoon, pack up.

 

Morning Mentor: 815~1230, Overall management of morning training (Blue & Red), specifically of morning instructors.

Morning Lead Instructors (3): 815 ~1230, Organise their team, help launch power boats, guide other instructors, brief children in their group, check safety of kids and boats, plan and run their session, keep radio contact.

Morning Assist instructors (3): 815~1230, assist lead istructors and hone their skills

Morning Other Instructors: 815~1230, look, ask, learn and help

 

Morning Blue Administrator (parent): 845~1130, keep attendence, children allocated to a boat, have correct equipment (lifejacket, shoes, sunscreen)

Morning Blue Mark Layer (parent) 845~1130, Liase with lead instructor, organise (small yellow) marks, lay them as required, ensure that they are retrieved and packed neatly away at end

Morning Blue Shore Coordinator (parent) 845~1130, deck and boats are organised, coordinate children and parents loading and unloading boats, ensure all are packed at end, complete damage report each week.

Morning Blue On water Coordinator (parent) 900~1130, go out with mentor as extra pair of hands

Morning Blue Canteen (parent) 845~1130, help out in the canteen or BBQ

 

Morning Red Administrator / Deck Coordinator (parent): 845~1130, keep attendence, children allocated to a boat, have correct equipment (lifejacket, shoes, sunscreen)

Morning Red Mark Layer (parent) 845~1130, Liase with lead instructor, organise (Orange) marks, lay them as required, ensure that they are retrieved and packed neatly away at end

Morning Red Support (parent in private boat if available), to assist if required.

 

Midday Race Control: 1000~1330, manages morning racing & volunteers, ensures paperwork is completed prior to racing (sign on sheets), start & finish sheets, docs returned to handicapper box.

Midday Briefing: 1000~1015, brief the morning Gold fleet for the day. Could be done by Race Control or RO for the morning.

Midday Race Officer (RO): 1000~1330, manages the actual mornign racing ie, sets course, start boat, flags finishes, safety etc.

Midday Scribe 1000~1330, extra pair of hands on the start boat to run flags, record results etc.

Midday Mark Boat: 1000~1330, assist boat boys in laying and retrieving morning marks

Midday response boat 1030~1330, take first response boat returning from Blue ...  out to MJ / Novice course, may not leave until say 1100 or even 1130.

 

Gold Race Control or RO  1200 ... call RPAYC and or BYRA to check that all is ok.

 

Gold afternoon Race Control: 1230~end, manages afternoon racing & volunteers, ensures paperwork is completed prior to racing (sign on sheets), start & finish sheets, docs returned to handicapper box.

Gold afternoon Briefing: 1250~1300, brief the afternoon Gold fleet for the day. Could be done by Race Control or RO for the morning.

Gold afternoon Race Officer (RO*): 1230~end, manages the actual afternoon racing ie, sets course, start boat, flags finishes, safety etc. *acts as additional scribe if other club is rostered as RO.

Gold afternoon Scribe : not normally required as have a scribe from RPAYC & BYRA join us on the start boat.

Gold afternoon Mark Boat: 1230~end, assist boat boys in laying and retrieving afternoon marks

Gold afternoon response boat 1: 1300~end, response boat to leave at similar time to boats leaving the beach

Gold afternoon response boat 2: 1300~end, particularly if weather is marginal.
